Our Business Relationship with You

The Airbagg Network

The relationship between Airbaggers and Airbagg is intended to be beneficial to both parties – a win-win situation. Airbaggers benefit through the earning of extra revenue, and through showcasing their business. Airbagg wins by earning a fee on each item stored.

The legal agreement entered into between the Airbagger and Airbagg is embodied in the Airbagg Terms and Conditions Statement. Please read the T&C’s  carefully before signing.

Airbagg History

A trip through the pandemic

Airbagg: Services

A luggage storage service, in the form of a market site that links customers to hosts is not a new idea. But, before Airbagg, there was no South African business in this space, and visitors to South Africa had very limited options for a storage service. Airbagg was founded in 2019 to address this need.

To test the demand for this service, a Facebook page was set up, and a small marketing campaign was initiated. Our first hosts were signed up, two in Cape Town and one in Johannesburg. We discovered that there was a demand for the service, but then the pandemic hit. Like many businesses, Airbagg went into hibernation.

The Airbagg Difference

A number of luggage storage market sites have been popping up. Airbagg, however, offers the following unique features:

  • The Airbagger sets their own price – This allows you to take advantage of your location – higher demand – higher price

  • The booking is confirmed by both parties by means of text and/or email. This gives our Airbaggers flexibility to accept or reject bookings, as per their convenience

  • We offer an oversize service. If your venue can handle bikes, surfboards, etc. then you can take advantage of premium rates to store such items.

  • Airbagg is proudly South African

Terms and Conditions

Airbagg aims to create a network of trusted hosts, who will take care of our customer's luggage. We also need to set clear boundaries on the service that we provide to customers. Our T's & C's set out the expectations and responsibilities of all three parties - Airbagg, Airbagger, and Customer.

Key elements of the T&C's

  • Airbaggers submit to taking all reasonable care to ensure that Customer’s property is safe and secure

  • A transaction between Airbagger and Customer will include the sharing of the Airbagger’s contact details with the Customer.

  • The Airbagger will be paid for each transaction, net of a fee withheld by Airbagg. The Fee will be a percentage of the gross value of the transaction

  • The Airbagger is free to design their own pricing scheme, subject to a Price Minimum of R150 per bag.

  •  Airbaggers will be paid the monies due to them according to these terms on a weekly basis.

  • The Airbagger’s operating hours will be shown to the customer during the booking process. It is, however, the Airbagger’s responsibility to ensure that the requested drop-off and pick-up times fall within these hours.

The Booking Process

When a customer chooses to book in luggage with you, the following process is initiated.

One

You will receive an email + sms requesting a booking. You can choose to accept or reject the booking.

Two

Once you have checked the drop-off and pick-up times, as well as the number of items to be stored, you can either decide to accept or reject the request. (Please reject if you cannot accept the request, rather than ignoring the request.) This will allow the customer to seek an alternative in good time.

Three

If you accept the request, the customer will be directed to a payment portal, to make payment. Once this is completed, you will receive another email + sms.

The Airbagg Platform

and how to use it

airbagg.co.za is a web based application. It does not require the user to download an app, or to register. Users – the people who want to store their luggage - use the website to find Airbaggers who are best located for their needs.

Airbaggers can use the Become an Airbagger page to apply to become an Airbagger, or simply send a mail to    info@airbagg.co.za. You will be contacted by an Airbagg representative, who will take you through the on-boarding process. This will include a visit to make sure that your facility is appropriate for storage purposes.

Airbagg promotes the storage of standard luggage, and oversize items (Bikes, surfboards etc.) We have experienced strong demand for such items based on our Facebook platform. Of course, not everyone has the capacity to store oversize items. Your profile will indicate whether you have such capacity or not.

Once registered on the Airbagg network, your details will be shown to users in a list of search results, and look something like this:
